Flywheel is one of the most essential part on indoor cycle.

There are however many different types and each has its own pros and cons.

Five main types of flywheel on the market:

1.Iron cast flywheel

Use on indoor cycle with friction brake .Iron cast flywheel's surfaces are usually electroplated.Good electroplating ensures good anti-rust ability and a refined appearance. This type of flywheel can be matched with a variety of customized flywheel labels to realize variety appearance. Currently this type of flywheel is our common used one on our friction indoor cycle.

2.Steel flywheel

Use on indoor cycle with friction brake. This type of flywheel also has premium appearance. To ensure the dynamic balance,it requires more complicate craft. So if with the same weight and dynamic balance,it's usually expensive than iron cast flywheel. Usually people won't choose to add label on it as for it's original surface view is perfect.

3.Aluminium alloy flywheel

Usually used on magnetic brake indoor cycle.

Whole aluminium flywheel is very expensive. Usually the aluminium flywheel we see is combining with aluminium and iron cast to ensure the weight. It is the most expensive one among the five types under the same weight. We use this type of flywheel on our high end home use or gym use magnetic brake bike.

4. Iron outside cover filled with cement flywheel

Use with magnetic brake on indoor cycle. Many articles say this flywheel is always used on the lowest end.And yes,under the same weight and dynamic balance,the cost of it relatively low.  Limit to its material cement, it will need more robust packing to maxmium avoid transition damage. 

5.Aluminium sheet with iron cast flywheel

Use with magnetic brake on indoor cycle.We use this type of flywheel on our entry level and middle class magnetic brake bike. This type of flywheel gives a relative cheaper solution for magnetic brake bike. However,use it on entry level bike will still weaken the price competition. If you want an entry level magnetic bike with good quality to use life long,indoor cycle with this type of flywheel will be your best choice.

Dynamic Balance

To ensure the dynamic balance,all type of flywheels need CNC processing. All of our flywheels used are dynamic balance guaranteed with deflection ≤0.4mm. What is the flywheel deflection?Deflection was originally the concept of outdoor bike.

Big deflection will not only affect the riding feeling, but also cause uneven braking feel. Therefore,it's important that the deflection of the flywheel is comply with certain standard.

Weight

Usually the heavier the flywheel,the expensive the cost.
